YES Bar is a hot new hangout for the students and other revellers that frequent the bar scene of Manchester’s Oxford Road. YES Bar fills the four floors of what was once an old auction house with a basement club, a street food kitchen, a gig venue and a roof terrace. The interior is decked out with edgy interior design which is complimented by the sounds of alternative music that floats through the building.
YES Bar’s in-house street food kitchen is shared between the chicken and vegan burger joint, Firebird Hope, and Pepperoni Playboy Pizza, a New York style catering operation which serves delicious and shockingly reasonably priced pizza from noon til who-knows. The Playboys aimed to create a casual dining experience that had no interference on their customers’ night out; their slices are served with a paper plate and bag so diners can rush off to the next act at a moment’s notice without having to leave their meal behind.
When designing the kitchen, LLK distributor Fridge Freezer Direct hooked Pepperoni Playboy Pizza up with the Cuppone Tiziano electric pizza oven. This oven’s compact size was ideal for this shared street food kitchen’s small footprint. The Playboys use the Tiziano to cook their thin-based pizzas as well as roast the veg for their toppings. Their varied menu has a bizarrely named pizza to tempt vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters alike: “Gary from Admin” is particularly popular! The Tiziano’s powerful performance enables this busy pizza operation to serve up to 400 covers in just one day.
Miles, Pepperoni Playboy’s head pizzaiolo, describes the Tiziano oven as “pretty damn reliable. It heats up fast and is very easy to clean as well!”
