When Team LLK found out that our neighbours at Pennine Pen Animal Sanctuary had suffered a loss of income due to COVID19 event cancellations, we knew we just had to help the only way we know how- through the power of pizza! 

We got in touch with pretty much every business, bubble and buddy we knew to find out whether they fancied eating irresistible pizzas while helping out local rescue dogs in the process. Before we knew it, we'd totally sold out of order slots! The businesses that snapped up the slots included Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisors, Mpeople Recruitment, Seftons Accountants and Business Advisors, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Forty3Media Website Design Agency, Pentagon Vauxhall Dealership, Brace Print Solutions, Dale Bathrooms and Wheelers Walkies among many generous friends and family.

On Thursday 15th October, we transformed our onsite demo kitchen into the 'Eat Pizza, Help Pups' pop up pizza takeaway! The food and wine experts and distributors at Continental Quattro Stagioni generously provided their authentic Italian ingredients free of charge so we were confident our Bark-herita and Pup-eroni pizzas would be well worth the donations. The pizza boxes featured a pic and profile describing a four legged resident of Pennine Pen to help spread their adorable faces across the borough and help them find a forever home!

Kyle , Will and Ryan worked their socks off in the kitchen, using our pizza ovens and equipment to whip up a whopping 107 pizzas (and only dropping 3!) in the 7 hours the takeaway was open! Ian was at the ready to grab the pizzas, stick them in his van and whiz them to their destinations all over Oldham and Saddleworth. Many donators offered to collect their pizzas from our social distancing friendly pick up point to ensure their pizzas were of the optimum hot'n'freshness.

We received fantastic feedback from our donators. A member of Team Mpeople even said her pizza was "one of the best she's tasted in her 37 years on this earth" - compliments to the chefs!

We had an absolute ball planning and running the 'Eat Pizza to Help Pups' takeaway. It's a testament to what Team LLK can achieve with teamwork! We've raised a whopping £700 which will be used by Pennine Pen to provide their residents with the food, veterinary treatments and general love and care they need to have a fantastic quality of life while they wait for their forever home.
